- Job Title: Target Validation Research Scientist (Functional Genomics)

- Rate: £150 per day

SRG are currently working with a global pharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, looking for a Research Scientist to join the team.
This exciting position will be working in the Functional Genomics Target Validation team, providing the chance to join a growing and dynamic environment focused on the large-scale biological annotation and validation of hit lists coming from functional genomics screens, to translate them into new drug targets for our client's oncology pipeline. The role will report directly into the Associate Director of the Advanced Cell models, Target Validation team with the postholder contributing to the wider Target Discovery group science and strategy. Our client is looking for applicants with cellular biology expertise, knowledge of plate-based cellular assay and a passion for rigorous validation of novel target opportunities.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Masters or equivalent years of experience in Molecular or Cell biology or related field
- Accomplishment of a research project involving molecular biology techniques and extensive tissue culture applications
- Understanding of critical steps in a functional genomics campaign
- Capable of scouting for scientific and technical developments in the fields of CRISPR screening and development of biologically relevant cell models
- Excellent team working, communication and networking skills with experience of interacting effectively across interfaces of discipline, culture, and expertise.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- PhD or equivalent years of experience in Molecular or Cell Biology
- Practical experience of delivering target validation and deconvolution work packages
- Background in Cancer Biology
- Good publication records in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent communication and networking skills
