Research Fellows - Neurology - 5 year initial contract - Oxford

Search by SRG are very happy to be supporting a world renowned institution with finding a number of new Research Fellows within their molecular and computational medicine team. You will have huge impact to research in the areas of neurology & complex human diseases such as neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation.

We are looking for people who can bring a realisable five year research plan in neurology applying methods and experimental medicine approaches such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and next generation deep phenotyping and this could be in a wet lab or dry lab environment. You will join a team which is a collaboration between a leading academic group and major pharmaceutical company looking to make huge advancements in medical sciences.

You will be responsible for:

  • Establishing and leading a Research Programme, acting as the Principal Investigator in a relevant area of science.
  • Providing academic supervision for staff members and research students.
  • Driving and creating collaborations between institutes and external companies.
  • Completing statistical analysis using novel methods.
  • Generating research income by funding and grants.
  • Preparing work for publication and conferences.
  • Networking and ensuring engaging with relevant groups and individuals in the field.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A highly thought out and realisable research plan that complements the areas of science listed throughout.
  • A relevant PhD/DPhil or MD in neuroscience, genetics, molecular/cellular biology or data science etc.
  • Significant post qualification research experience ie postdocs or senior postdocs or other relevant research experience.
  • Previous success in attracting peer-reviewed research grants.
  • An established record of international publications/patents.
  • Experience in 'Omics analysis for multifactorial diseases.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to present at high levels to all types of stakeholders.

These roles are offering a fantastic initial 5 year contract, with the opportunity for a further 5 years dependent on the research milestones hit. We can consider individuals with international experience as long as they are able to relocate to Oxford for the duration of the contract.
