Shift Supervisor - Manufacturing (Rotating Shift)
Our client, a well‑established and growing engineering and manufacturing organisation, is currently seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to join their operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on people leader with strong production and engineering experience to progress their career within a structured and safety‑focused manufacturing environment.
The Role
Reporting to senior production management, the Shift Supervisor will have full responsibility for leading and motivating production teams across multiple manufacturing areas. You will manage shift performance, ensure production targets are met, and maintain high standards across quality, safety and delivery.
This role operates on a rotating shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver daily production targets while ensuring customer delivery commitments are achieved
- Lead shift handovers and daily operational meetings, communicating KPIs, priorities and corrective actions
- Manage workflow through effective allocation of labour, materials and resources
- Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain high standards of product quality while controlling operational costs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with LEAN manufacturing principles
- Support and contribute to preventative maintenance planning
- Lead, coach and develop team members to create a high‑performance, flexible workforce
- Manage operational HR matters including timekeeping, holidays and disciplinary issues
- Champion Health & Safety on shift, ensuring incidents and near‑misses are reported in line with site procedures
- Promote and maintain 6S standards across the production floor
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally engineering or fabrication
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and production documentation
- Exposure to LEAN manufacturing principles is desirable
- Knowledge of MIG, TIG, blast and paint processes advantageous
- Crane and forklift experience
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision‑making skills
