Analytical Chemist - new job in Tyne and Wear, UK

Analytical Chemist required on a permanent basis, based in Tyne & Wear. Requiring a degree in Chemistry or similar. Proven industrial experience of working in an analytical laboratory is desirable. Recent Chemistry graduates are encouraged to apply.

Salary: £22,000- £25,000 (dependent on experience)

SRG are working with a leading manufacturer and supplier of chemical products. They are currently looking for an Analytical Chemist to join their QA laboratory team on a permanent basis, at their site in County Durham. This role will predominantly involve the analysis and result recording associated with the manufacture and development of a range of finished products, mainly activated carbon products. This is a great opportunity for a recent chemistry graduate to start their career in analytical chemistry.

Role / Description

• Complete analysis of compounds and mixtures using a range of analytical techniques including AA spectrophotometers, UV spectrophotometers and tensiometers
• Complete regular chemical analysis of composition an quality of raw materials and finished products including moisture, pH and density analysis
• Complete physical testing including tensile strength
• Record analysis results
• Prepare samples for analysis

Requirements

• A degree in Chemistry (or similar)
• Proven industrial experience of analytical laboratory work is desirable
• High attention to detail
• Ability to efficiently plan, organise and manage own workload
