- Contract length: 12 months + extension
SRG are working with a global agrochemical company in Huddersfield who are looking for a Process Hazards Technician. This role will involve the following: to generate process hazards data for new and existing products, and in support of projects and manufacturing processes, to meet the targets of Process Hazards Section and the businesses as a whole. As well as to interpret data and present results in consultation with their manager in order to make contributions to decisions in the work programme or problem resolution.
Job accountabilities
- Plan and carry out experimental work programmes to determine process hazards data for materials and processes, as determined by the supervisor / manager, in order to enable specification of safe handling and operating procedures for large scale processing.
- Assess the acceptability of experimental results and use standard computer data processing techniques to produce data analysis in a form suitable for report incorporation, and propose appropriate further experiments when necessary.
- Record all laboratory work appropriately (ie in proformae, Standard Official Notebooks, or the ELN), and compile results for inclusion in final reports.
- Produce a draft version of final reports for Process Hazards Assessor / Senior Process Hazards Assessor to review
- Carry out work to the requirements of ISO9001 and where applicable, to the requirements of GLP as defined by the UK GLP Compliance Programme.
- Perform basic troubleshooting activities in cases where laboratory equipment malfunctions
- Demonstrate laboratory procedures and the use of equipment to new starters and subordinates in order to facilitate their induction and training.
Job requirements
- Educated to HNC standard or equivalent in chemistry or chemical engineering, or a science apprenticeship.
- HS&E: knowledge and application of laboratory risk control systems, e.g. COSHH, experimental risk assessment, local safety procedures
- Laboratory / analytical: comprehensive experience and knowledge.
- Quality: awareness and application of appropriate (GLP and ISO9001) procedures and work instructions.
- Familiar with literature searching and the use of library information systems.
- Good skills in standard computing packages (e.g. Word, Excel, MS Teams). Also, an understanding of computer hardware / software interfaces, and data capture software (e.g. Orchestrator, LabVIEW)
- Comprehensive practical experience and knowledge of the work practices, procedures and equipment required to carry out process hazards measurements.
- Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities.
