Our client are a global leader in agriculture; rooted in science and dedicated to bringing plant potential to life. They are currently seeking a Research Post-doc for a 2-year contract position.
The position involves studying and understanding plant organellar biology and plant growth/stress responses using molecular, cellular, genetic and genomic techniques. In this role you will:
Develop novel concepts and technical solutions for crop genetic improvement and performance enhancement
Independently design studies and conduct experiments to generate results and materials, analyse experimental data, write research reports and papers, and formulate technical recommendations
Contribute expertise and integrate technological advances to develop and/or improve Seed Research capabilities
Accountabilities:
Discuss and collaborate with supervisor and colleagues to explore new approaches and propose technical approaches
Work independently under minimal supervision to design experiments and conduct studies to achieve objectives as defined by research projects.
Perform necessary experiments and use resources effectively to generate quality data for peer-reviewed journal publications
Ensure that all research and experiments are carried out following company HSE policies and quality guidelines
To be successful in this role, we believe you will need:
PhD degree in microbiology, plant biology, plant pathology, molecular biology
Excellent knowledge and experience in molecular microbiology, plant-microbe interactions, recombinant DNA technology, genetics and genomics
Demonstrated working knowledge in genetics, molecular biology and/or plant tissue culture Critical experience
Demonstrated experience in molecular microbe-plant interactions
Excellent Knowledge of microbial effectors and related pathways
Demonstrated experience in cytoplasmic genetics/genomics and cytonuclear interactions
Experience in microbe engineering and/or mutagenesis
Design and construct complex recombinant DNA vectors
Familiar with functional genetics and tools using gene expression, genome editing
Experience in plant tissue culture and transformation
Experience in the use of fluorescent and/or confocal microscopy
Demonstrated problem-solving ability in the context of plant biotechnology research
Flexibility in handling new assignments and delivering results in a rapidly changing work environment
Excellent record keeping and outstanding attention to details
