Analytical Scientist
Location: East Midlands
Salary: £29,500 per annum
Contract: 6 months, full-time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Scientist to join a well-established organisation within the materials science sector on a 6-month contract. The role has been created to support key product development and process improvement projects, delivering high-quality analytical insights that shape business decisions. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of advanced instrumentation in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This position is ideal for a graduate or early-career scientist looking to strengthen their practical lab experience within industry.
Role
* Perform detailed analysis of material samples using a variety of laboratory techniques
* Use advanced instrumentation to investigate the composition and structure of materials
* Interpret and present analytical data in clear, concise reports for internal stakeholders
* Support product development and manufacturing teams with data-driven insights
* Assist in refining and developing analytical methods and procedures
* Communicate effectively with colleagues across different departments regarding testing needs
* Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and compliance at all times
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the analytical function
What we're looking for
* Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Geology or a related scientific discipline
* Previous hands-on laboratory experience (academic or industrial)
* Familiarity with analytical techniques such as XRF, XRD, Ion Chromatography, TGA and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to work
* Confident working with data and producing clear, accurate reports
