This is the perfect role for someone early in their EHS career looking to further develop and make a role their own.

Experience: Ideally 3+ years in an EHS/HS&E role within manufacturing, engineering, chemicals, life sciences, or similarly regulated settings
Qualifications: Relevant EHS qualification; NEBOSH/IOSH (or equivalent) advantageous
Additional: First Aid / Fire Safety training beneficial

About the role
You will work closely with operational teams and site leaders to identify risks early, improve standards, and maintain compliance with internal procedures and external legislation. The position suits someone who enjoys being visible on the floor, coaching teams, and turning observations into practical actions.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out routine site walkthroughs and targeted inspections, documenting findings and supporting close-out of corrective actions.
  • Support risk assessment and safe system of work activity, including reviewing tasks, controls, and local procedures.
  • Assist with incident, near-miss, and first-aid event investigations-capturing root causes and agreeing proportionate actions.
  • Help coordinate EHS training and awareness activity (toolbox talks, briefings, and online learning), keeping records up to date.
  • Provide practical advice to teams and contractors, promoting safe behaviours and shared ownership of standards.
  • Support environmental compliance tasks as required (e.g., basic waste handling processes, sampling/monitoring support, and documentation).
  • Check and record the status of emergency and safety equipment (e.g., eyewash units, extinguishers, emergency lighting) and escalate issues.
  • Assist with internal audits and regulatory readiness activities, including evidence gathering and action tracking.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on EHS/HS&E experience in a site-based setting, with confidence engaging colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience working in a scientific or regulated manufacturing setting.
  • Working knowledge of UK health & safety expectations and practical application of risk controls.
  • Strong communication skills-able to influence, coach, and challenge constructively.
  • Well organised, comfortable managing multiple actions, and diligent with records and follow-up.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and standard digital reporting tools.
  • Desirable: NEBOSH General Certificate / IOSH (or equivalent), experience of permit-to-work, contractor management, or regulated manufacturing environments; First Aid and/or Fire Safety certification.
