Job Description - Manufacturing Technician
Rate: £18.34 per hour
Location: Bracknell
Contract Length: 24 months
Shift Role: Yes (shift disturbance allowance + occasional/additional hours payments)
1. Role Purpose
As a key member of the Manufacturing Team, you will operate designated plant equipment safely and efficiently to achieve and improve Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards, while meeting production targets. The role supports smooth manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, and reliable delivery of production plans.
2. Key Accountabilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Work safely at all times, supporting plant and site HSE targets.
- Take accountabilities for all HSE aspects within your designated area.
- Follow site safety procedures including Permit to Work systems.
Plant Operation & Production
- Operate premix, milling, and formulation workstations in line with production plans and quality standards.
- Ensure availability of raw materials and consumables to support uninterrupted manufacturing.
- Carry out AT-Line Laboratory testing/analysis on final products.
Maintenance & Engineering Support
- Perform first-line engineering maintenance within your competence to reduce downtime and improve plant performance.
- Support engineering teams during annual shutdown maintenance programmes.
- Conduct routine monitoring of plant/equipment, initiating corrective actions where required.
Data Recording & Quality
- Record all manufacturing and engineering data using relevant systems.
- Analyse data and implement corrective actions when required to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Training & Collaboration
- Provide, receive, validate and-where appropriate-accredit training to support team capability.
- Work flexibly as an effective member of the team, contributing to departmental strategy, goals, and values.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth plant operation and continuous improvement.
3. Required Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities
Critical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of HS&E standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of chemical production plant operations.
Critical Experience
- Experience recording and analysing manufacturing/engineering data with appropriate systems.
- Background in multi‑product production environments operating under Just-In-Time (JIT) principles.
- Experience working in shift-based roles.
- Familiarity with Permit to Work systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
