About the Role

We are currently looking for a Technologist to join our clients Cell Expression Systems R&D team in Cambridge, to contribute to the execution of analytical activities for multiple projects.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Assist with sample analysis to generate data for decision making across multiple projects with other senior analytical scientists
  • Perform sample purification, product quantification and product quality analysis including but not limited to PrA HPLC, SEC, CE-SDS and icIEF
  • Solution preparations - including analytical buffers, media and feed where required
  • Monthly mycoplasma testing
  • General lab housekeeping e.g. stock checks, instrument calibrations when required
  • Work closely with multiple R&D teams to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein manufacturing
  • Maintain accurate and timely records to appropriate quality standards
  • Actively keep aware of relevant academic literature
  • Contribute ideas and opinions to aid the development of new methods and/or technologies
  • 85% lab-based role using experience and knowledge

Key requirements:

  • Previous practical experience in an analytical laboratory with a focus on protein characterisation, with aseptic practical experience
  • Knowledge and practical expertise in chromatography and electrophoresis techniques (e.g. ProA HPLC, SEC, CE-SDS) in the field of protein characterization
  • Knowledge of affinity purification techniques
  • A good general background in established analytical methods in the industry, including the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches
  • Previous practical experience in an analytical laboratory with a focus on protein characterisation

Nice to have experience:

  • Aseptic practical experience
  • Solution preparation
  • Any equipment maintenance
