About the Role

We are currently looking for a Scientist to join our clients' Protein Chemistry group within R&D Protein and Process Analytics department. This team is responsible for delivering high-value technical innovation, both via specialist analytical projects and as part of wider collaborative project teams.

As a Scientist, you will be responsible for planning and execution of scientific/ experimental work for target projects, including elements of laboratory work, scientific writing and review, testing of new technologies, method development and optimization. This position requires experience in analytical separation and characterization of biotherapeutics proteins, and with analysis of relevant protein CQAs/ PTMs, as charge/ size variant analysis, purity and glycosylation profile.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of scientific activities for target projects, including elements of laboratory work, scientific writing and review, testing of new technologies and method development
  • Performing a range of analysis using mainly liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis for characterisation of proteins and their relevant CQAs
  • Analysis and interpretation of complex data and presentation to internal stakeholders
  • Execution and reporting analytical studies, and communication with the project team

Key requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in life sciences or equivalent. Preferred area of study: Biochemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology
  • Previous practical industry and/or academic experience in an analytical laboratory, with focus on protein analysis
  • Knowledge and practical expertise in chromatography (RP, HILIC, SEC, IEX), capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS, icIEF) and other relevant techniques for protein analysis
  • Research focused, with a keen interest in innovation within the biologics area
  • A good general background in established analytical methods in the industry, and understanding of the state of the art technologies and their applications in the area of analytical characterization of biotherapeutics
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions to scientific challenges
