Product Design Manager

Location: Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week onsite in Sedgefield)
Are you passionate about driving innovation in product design and leading high‑impact technical projects? We're looking for an experienced Product Design Manager to join an established and growing team working at the forefront of advanced manufacturing and device development.
In this role, you'll provide high‑level technical leadership, guide a team of up to eight specialists, and play a central part in delivering complex R&D programmes that shape the products and technologies of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing product design team.
• Plan and manage resources, contributing to CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
• Act as technical lead on complex product design and device development projects.
• Translate strategic market insights into practical delivery plans and OKRs.
• Build and maintain networks with external partners to identify new opportunities.
• Support bid development and customer engagement with deep technical input.
• Ensure compliance with SHE, GMP, and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and oversee technical governance.

About You

Essential

• HNC/Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
• Significant senior‑level industrial experience.
• Strong technical expertise in product design and device technologies.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams in complex technical environments.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven experience in performance management and strategic planning.

Desirable

• Supervisory or management qualification.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
• Engagement with wider professional networks.
