Job Description

Role Title: Material Handler

Location: Huddersfield

Pay Rate: £14.07 per hour

Working Hours: 40 hours per week - Shift worker

Contract Length: 6 Months

Role Purpose

The Day Support Material Handler provides essential support to this team by:

  • Assisting chemical operations across the plant, including material handling, product packing, tanker loading, and container loading using a Forklift Truck.
  • Supporting maintenance operations, including cleaning activities during outages.

The role requires working safely, efficiently, and flexibly across various responsibilities on the plant.

Accountabilities

  • Perform activities such as:
    • Final product tanker operations
    • Final product drumming
    • Waste management (support re-works, run-to-drains, routine/non-routine waste)
    • Housekeeping and asset care duties
    • HQ charging activities
    • Delivery loading/offloading
    • Outage support (cleaning vessels/equipment)
  • Work largely unsupervised while collaborating with the wider R5 team.
  • Provide clear handovers for Area Support CPTs.
  • Co-operate with shift manufacturing teams through daily check-ins.
  • Raise work-related issues early and discuss solutions professionally with the line manager.

  • Achieve and maintain competencies for all activities related to raw materials, waste, final products, and ancillary units (training provided).
  • Maintain accurate records for Aquinas/CBT packages and corporate online training.
  • Exhibit positivity, agility, and willingness to learn new skills quickly.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, organization, and decision-making abilities.
  • Handle multiple issues concurrently under pressure with effective prioritization.
  • Adapt readily to change and show initiative in driving results.
  • Maintain flexibility to meet business demands.
  • Physical fitness and good attendance record required.
  • Must hold a current Forklift Truck (FLT) license.

  • Basic IT knowledge (VRS data, QPulse, Workday, Microsoft packages, Enablon, HSE4U)
