The challenge 

A rapidly growing biotech start-up based in Cambridge sought a Bioinformatics Director to help realize their ambitious plans for growth.

As a start-up, taking on a new director who could help take the organisation forward both in terms of scientific mission, and cultural fit was business critical. However, director-level candidates with the relevant qualifications, and motivation to work for a start-up were challenging to come by.

The ideal candidate needed to be a strong leader, and collaborator to work with the senior leadership team and the lab-based scientists to implement data-driven solutions, guide experimental design, and overall, develop the organisation’s strategy surrounding bioinformatics.
