SRG are working with a multinational company who specialise in the creation of speciality chemicals for a range of markets. They are now looking for a Senior Scientist - Applications to join their technical team on a permanent basis, at their site based in Cheshire. This new and exciting role will include leading the design and development of application test methods for a range of markets including Agrochemicals, Industrial, Personal Care and Home Care. These test methods will ensure that products and technology meet performance targets versus existing products in the portfolio, and will also help identify new market areas. This role will also involve supporting in the development of new and existing formulations and the successful candidate will be a key point of contact between new product development, multiple application teams, external partners, new suppliers and customers. Candidates that are PhD qualified with industrial experience in formulation and/or application testing are encouraged to apply, although this role will suit candidates with the proven industrial experience of formulating products and testing their applications who want to further their career.

Role / Description

  • Lead the design and development of application test methods for a range of markets including Agrochemicals, Industrial, Personal Care and Home Care.
  • Support in the development of both new and formulations before passing on to application teams.
  • Characterisation of new formulations using standard laboratory equipment or novel application methods including performance and stability assessment.
  • Working collaboratively with new product development, synthesis, application testing and external partners to evaluate technology.
  • Keep accurate records of lab activities, issue detailed technical reports in a reasonable time frame and, when required, prepare effective PowerPoint presentations to present internal projects that are undertaken.
  • Contribute to drafting patent applications to protect new product developments and new technologies.
  • Perform a thorough review of the existing patent literature to ensure the new products could be brought to market without any legal complications.

Requirements

  • Minimum Degree in Chemistry (or similar)
    • PhD candidates encouraged to apply
  • Proven industrial experience of formulations and/or testing applications of chemical products with a wide range of markets considered including agrochemicals, personal care, homecare or other industrial markets.
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Work well within a small time with good time management and organisational skills
