Project Manager - Benefits & Leave of Absence Operations
About the Role
Lead projects supporting benefits administration, retirement programs, health and welfare plans, disability/leave of absence operations, annual enrollment, vendor management, and compliance initiatives. You'll coordinate cross-functional teams (HR, Payroll, Legal, Finance, IT, vendors) to keep programs compliant, efficient, and employee-focused.
Long-term contract; fully remote!
Required Skills
- 5+ years of project management experience leading cross-functional HR, Benefits, LOA, Payroll, Operations, Vendor, or Transformation projects
- Working knowledge of: Health & Welfare Plans, Retirement Plans, Disability Programs, Leave of Absence Administration, Annual Enrollment, Vendor Management
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- Customer-focused mindset (employee, retiree, vendor, and operational impacts)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Benefits/LOA projects from planning through implementation and closeout
- Manage project plans, timelines, RAID logs, and status reporting
- Coordinate cross-functional and vendor teams
- Support annual enrollment (testing, communications, vendor readiness)
- Track risks/issues and drive process improvements
- Support M&A, compliance, and benefits transformation initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years progressive PM experience in Benefits, HR Ops, Total Rewards, LOA, Payroll, or Vendor Management
Preferred
- PMP, CAPM, Agile/Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, or CEBS certification
- Experience with Workday, SAP, ServiceNow, MS Project, Smartsheet, or SharePoint
Travel: Occasional (up to ~2x/year)
