Utility/Process Equipment Engineer
Job Title: Utility/Process Equipment Engineer
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Duration: 6 months, plus likely extension
About the Role
We're looking for a Utility/Process Equipment Engineer to join a capital project team supporting a new centrifuge installation. This is a unique opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of a capital project - from early design review through field-based commissioning, startup, and turnover to operations.
This role is embedded within the project team (not plant operations) and will evolve significantly over the course of the project: starting with design-phase reviews and shifting into hands-on field support as the project matures.
What You'll Do
- Support utility connection design and drawing accuracy for systems including WFI, clean steam, chilled water, city water/water distribution, and HVAC as they tie into new process equipment
- Participate in project team meetings, reviewing and providing feedback on project deliverables
- Conduct submittal reviews and respond to construction RFIs
- Execute TrackWise tasks and support engineering change management processes
- Review and approve engineering drawings related to utility tie-ins and equipment installation
- Support commissioning and startup activities as the project transitions from design to execution
- Assist with turnover to operations/maintenance teams
- Conduct maintenance assessments and spare parts planning as part of project delivery scope
- Partner with the automation team on control-related aspects of the project (general automation awareness expected; deep automation expertise not required)
Project Phasing
- Early phase: Primarily project team meetings, deliverable reviews, and engineering feedback
- Later phase: Shift toward field support, commissioning/startup, turnover, and maintenance planning
What We're Looking For
- 5-8 years of experience in equipment/process engineering or equipment support roles, with demonstrated ability to apply that experience to plant utility systems supporting process equipment
- Hands-on or working knowledge of one or more of: WFI, clean steam, chilled water, city water/water distribution, HVAC
- Experience with capital project engineering activities: submittal reviews, RFIs, drawing review/approval, change management, commissioning support
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
