SRG is looking for an Obesity Scientist to join our client's pharmaceutical development team in South San Francisco. The right candidate will have A PhD and a strong background in Metabolic/Obesity Disease with deep expertise in adipose cell culture AND has been part of an industry program bringing products into the clinical development phase.

*PLEASE NOTE - THIS POSITION REQUIRES DEEP ADIPOSE TISSUE EXPERTISE AS WELL AS PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCT CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE. Please see requirements below.

This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead an innovative, growing pharmaceutical research and development team!

Onsite: South San Francisco

Long-term contract: 1 year; contract to hire.

This Scientist position will oversee the lab and the work of the associates. He/she will be looked at to ensure programs are moving ahead smoothly. This is a hands-on bench lead position.

Currently this work focuses on liver and obesity. You will focus on building assays to support these studies.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • PhD plus 5+ years of pharma/biotech industry experience
  • Has led or significantly contributed to a drug discovery program
  • Deep expertise in adipocyte cell culture
  • Obesity biology
  • Mammalian Cells NOT bacterial
  • Complex Primary Cell Culture
  • Microscopy (Columbus/Opera phenix)
  • Cell Staining, IPSC, Western Blots, ELISAS, HTRFs, Absorbance Readouts, qPCR
  • Diverse technical skills
  • GLP experience in small to mid-size biotech or pharma company

  • Program progressed to clinic

Responsibilities:

  • Role will be lab benchwork, office, obesity/adipocyte expert
  • Building assays to support studies
  • Documentation will be out of the lab
  • Bench notes according to good laboratory practices (GLP)
  • Overseeing the lab and the work of the associates
