Senior Technical Product Manager - Software/Platform Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY - Fully Remote!
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager (TPM) to own the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for internal systems and products in the FieldView platform domain. This is a high-autonomy, high-ownership role - you will act as the strategic owner of these platforms (foundational application-level platforms that the rest of the organization depends on - including Identity & Access Services, Communications, Account Management, and Customer Relationship Management), not simply a backlog manager. You will reduce the technical burden on senior engineers by engaging delivery teams across unit and organizational boundaries to drive cross-team alignment, facilitate design reviews, and ensure technical decisions are well-informed and communicated. This role is embedded primarily within delivery teams, working day-to-day alongside team members to drive execution readiness and delivery clarity while proactively driving whole-organization adoption of the teams' platforms and services.
This role operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and requires someone who can engage credibly at all levels - from architects defining technical strategy to new teams onboarding to your capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Ownership & Strategy
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for internal services, such as account hierarchy infrastructure.
- Operate with an ownership mindset - take initiative, make decisions, and drive outcomes without waiting for direction
- Shape the multi-PI direction of owned platforms, balancing new capability development, technical debt reduction, and adoption
- Monitor relevant technical trends and emerging technologies to inform product vision and collaboration
- Build and communicate a compelling narrative for platform investments to leadership and stakeholders
- SAFe Planning & Backlog Management
- Architecture Alignment & Technical Design: Understand and contribute to discussions on authentication protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML), authorization models (RBAC, ABAC), and security patterns[AW1] [AW2]
- Stakeholder Management & Cross-ART Coordination
- Developer Experience & Adoption
- Metrics & Continuous Improvement
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager, Product Owner, or equivalent role in software/platform engineering
- Demonstrated experience owning and driving strategy for internal platform products or shared services
- Strong technical fluency in identity and access management concepts (authentication, authorization, SSO, OIDC/OAuth, RBAC/ABAC) or comparable platform domains
- Comfortable reading and reasoning about code - able to review pull requests, understand system behavior from source, and engage in technical discussions grounded in implementation detail
- Proven ability to write high-quality product artifacts - Features, User Stories, acceptance criteria (GIVEN/WHEN/THEN), and technical requirements
- Experience with Agile backlog management tools (Azure DevOps preferred; Jira, Rally, or equivalent acceptable)
- Ability to engage in architectural discussions and reduce the coordination burden on senior engineers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Self-starter with a track record of taking initiative and driving outcomes in ambiguous environments
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) - PI Planning, ART ceremonies, Feature/Story decomposition
- Background in cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with identity providers and access management systems (Okta, Auth0, AWS IAM, Azure AD, Keycloak, etc.)
- Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, data governance)
- Experience building platform adoption strategies - go-to-market for internal tools, developer onboarding, migration playbooks
- Proficiency with GenAI tools and AI-assisted workflows (GitHub Copilot, AI agents, prompt engineering) for accelerating product management work
- Experience with Datadog, observability platforms, or data-driven engineering practices
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field required
* Advanced degree (MBA, MS) or equivalent experience preferred
Soft Skills:
- Thinks and acts like a platform owner - proactively identifies problems, proposes solutions, and drives execution
- Comfortable making trade-off decisions and defending them to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Can participate meaningfully in architecture and design discussions without relying on engineers to translate
- Articulates platform value and technical concepts clearly to audiences ranging from junior developers to enterprise architects
- Delivers on commitments - PI plans, roadmap milestones, stakeholder promises; brings structure to ambiguity
- Works effectively across organizational boundaries in a organizational model where empowered teams drive decisions
