Associate Scientist (Contract)
📍 San Francisco, CA | 🧪 Onsite (5 days/week)
⏳ 12‑Month W2 Contract | 💰 $45-50/hr
We are partnering with a growing, innovative biotechnology organization to hire several Associate Scientists to support early‑stage discovery and assay development programs. These roles are ideal for a hands‑on bench scientist who enjoys variety, fast execution, and working closely with senior scientists in a collaborative lab environment.
In this role you will
- Utilize strong, diverse bench skills with an emphasis on mammalian cell culture
- Work with multiple molecular and cell‑based techniques
- Comfortable with managing long-term or challenging systems
- Provide expertise in large assay analysis with mammalian cells
- Cell staining or phenotypic assays
- Antibody‑based or biochemical assays
- Complex or multi‑step cell culture workflows
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's plus 5 years or Master's plus 2 years as a Research Scientist
- Experience with adipocyte (immortalized, primary) cell culture OR experience with complex cellular systems (e.g., iPSC, organoids, co-cultures)
- Basic assays (e.g., RNA extraction --> qPCR, ELISAs, WBs)
- Worked in a small to mid‑size biotech or pharma environment REQUIRED
- Willingness to work fully onsite in South San Francisco
Preferred Experience
- Transfecting cells, especially siRNAs
- Experience with metabolic assays (e.g., Seahorse, mitochondrial assessments)
- Experience with immunofluorescence imaging
Key Responsibilities
- Execute hands‑on bench work supporting assay development and discovery studies
- Perform mammalian cell culture experiments
- Run and support assays including Western blots, ELISAs, HTRFs, qPCR.
- Maintain accurate bench documentation in accordance with GLP standards
- Support multiple projects simultaneously as priorities shift
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with scientists and technical experts
