🔬 Associate Scientist (Contract)

📍 South San Francisco, CA | 🧪 Onsite (5 days/week)
⏳ 12‑Month W2 Contract | 💰 $42/hr

We are partnering with a growing, innovative biotechnology organization to hire several Associate Scientists to support early‑stage discovery and assay development programs. These roles are ideal for a hands‑on bench scientist who enjoys variety, fast execution, and working closely with senior scientists in a collaborative lab environment.

About the Role

This position is ~80% laboratory work and ~20% documentation/office work. You'll be a key contributor executing assays, generating data, and supporting discovery programs across multiple projects. Senior scientists will provide direction, while Associate Scientists drive day‑to‑day lab execution.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is nimble, detail‑oriented, and eager to build breadth across techniques rather than specialize narrowly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute hands‑on bench work supporting assay development and discovery studies
  • Perform mammalian cell culture experiments
  • Run and support assays including Western blots, ELISAs, HTRFs, qPCR.
  • Maintain accurate bench documentation in accordance with GLP standards
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously as priorities shift
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with scientists and technical experts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a life sciences discipline
  • Strong, diverse bench skills with an emphasis on mammalian cell culture
  • Experience with multiple molecular and cell‑based techniques
  • Excellent lab technique, attention to detail, and steady hands
  • Comfortable taking direction and executing independently
  • Willingness to work fully onsite in South San Francisco

Preferred Experience

  • Cell staining or phenotypic assays
  • Antibody‑based or biochemical assays
  • Complex or multi‑step cell culture workflows
  • Experience in a small to mid‑size biotech or pharma environment

What Makes Someone Successful Here

  • Self‑starter mindset with strong execution skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, collaborative team
  • Adaptable and open to learning new assays and techniques
  • Enjoys variety and contributing across multiple projects
