Lead Buyer (Capital Projects) - $83/hr W2
📍 Vacaville, CA - Hybrid | West Coast Remote Considered
Are you an experienced Buyer with deep capital project procurement expertise? We're hiring a Lead Buyer (Level III) to support major growth capital projects across the Americas - projects ranging from $10M to $500M.
This is a hands‑on player/manager role supporting strategic expansion initiatives and new manufacturing capacity buildouts. If you thrive in a high-impact environment and enjoy partnering across engineering, project management, and supplier networks, this could be your next big move.
⭐ Work Arrangement
- Highly preferred: Local to Vacaville, CA - 3 days onsite
- Bay Area candidates: Open to 1-2 days onsite per week
- West Coast remote considered: Must be able to travel onsite at least 1x per month
💰 Compensation: Up to $83/hr W2
What You'll Do
- Develop purchasing strategies and oversee procurement for large-scale capital projects
- Lead procurement activities for equipment, systems, services, and engineering support
- Manage RFPs, contract negotiations, and end-to-end sourcing processes
- Serve as the primary supplier-facing contact for assigned projects
- Identify, manage, and mitigate supply chain risks
- Partner with Project Management on performance metrics and supplier accountability
- Collaborate with Global Category Management to implement sourcing strategies
- Track and report savings, cost reductions, and project procurement KPIs
- Review and negotiate supplier change orders
- Lead and support initiatives to enhance Capex Procurement efficiency
- Help staff procurement resources as new projects launch
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Purchasing, or Construction
- Experience in capex-heavy industries (pharma, oil & gas, tech, manufacturing, etc.)
- Strong commercial background in capital or construction procurement (or sales)
- Preferred: CIPS, Six Sigma, Project Management certifications
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and contract development skills
- Skilled in project management and procurement leadership
- Comfortable working in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
- Analytical thinker with strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, Oracle Unifier
