Role: Manager - Indirect Procurement

Reports to: Head of Procurement
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Work Arrangement: Hybrid schedule requiring on-site presence Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Permanent, full-time plus 20% annual bonus.

Position Overview:

This role sits within the Global Procurement function and serves as a strategic partner to multiple business units, which may include R&D, Commercial, HR, and Manufacturing & Supply. The Indirect Procurement Manager collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to align supplier strategies with organizational goals, compliance standards, and operational needs. Success in this position requires strong category expertise, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to deliver value through innovation and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute category strategies supporting functions such as R&D, Medical Affairs, IT, and Supply Chain (including MRO and capital projects).
  • Create sourcing plans in partnership with stakeholders to reduce risk, optimize costs, and identify opportunities for added value and innovation.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable sourcing strategies.
  • Someone who can work individually across potentially multiple categories like IT or commercial or R&D etc.
  • Oversee the full sourcing lifecycle: RFP/RFQ/RFS management, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory standards, and risk frameworks.
  • Track supplier performance and lead initiatives for continuous improvement in service and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on spend, savings, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Stay informed on market trends, supplier innovations, and emerging technologies relevant to assigned categories.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related discipline; advanced credentials (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years in indirect procurement or category management.
  • Someone who can work individually across potentially multiple categories like IT or commercial or R&D etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sourcing projects and negotiate high-value agreements.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement platforms (SAP, Ariba, Coupa) and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
