Schedule: Fully onsite, 5 days a week

Duration: Long-term contract (W2); Accrued PTO and Hoilday Days

Position Overview

The Telematics Systems Design & Release Engineer is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering hardware and software releases for automotive telematics systems. This role involves drafting technical Statements of Work (eSOW), managing supplier deliverables, and ensuring compliance with Ford GPDS processes. You will lead integration testing, manage requirements, and support engineering and launch activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and manage eSOWs detailing expectations for suppliers.
  • Plan and manage core hardware and software releases, including change control and issue management.
  • Oversee vehicle-specific application releases and software integration.
  • Cascade requirements to suppliers and ensure sign-off.
  • Author GPDS deliverables, including:
  • DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
  • SCCAF (Special Characteristics Communication and Agreement Form)
  • VSCS (Vehicle Specific Configuration Specification)
  • NID
  • DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report)
  • Conduct integration testing with CGEA1.3C architecture.
  • Support engineering and launch activities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience managing external suppliers, including drafting and negotiating technical SOWs.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Expertise in planning and managing hardware/software releases, including change control and issue management.
  • Ability to manage technical requirements with external suppliers.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Ford GPDS or similar automotive product development processes.
  • Knowledge of automotive electrical architecture and protocols.
  • Experience testing hardware and software on a bench or in a vehicle.
  • Understanding of DFMEA, SCCAF, VSCS, NID, and DVP&R processes.

Technical Competencies

  • Requirement decomposition and cascade.
  • Test case creation and requirement sign-off testing.
  • Software release planning and execution using Ford's WERS and IVS systems.
  • CAN message database definition and network interface design review.
  • Development of SCCAF for supplier and assembly line compliance.
