Sr. Mechanical Engineer
Location: Newark, DE or Houston, TX 
(onsite preferred; remote considered for strong candidates with 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of related project management experience)
* Hours: 40 per week | Core hours: 9am-3pm CT
* Duration: 6-month contract with strong potential to convert to direct hire
* Environment: Office + process facilities (PPE provided)
* pay rate: $42-48/hr. 
Seeking an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, installation, and lifecycle management of critical mechanical systems used in gas processing facilities. The ideal candidate has strong ASME code knowledge, proven project management experience, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable system performance.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical processing environments
 - Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 and ASME B31.3 standards
 - Proven hands-on experience with rotating equipment and mechanical systems
 - Demonstrated project management skills (scope, schedule, budget)
 - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
 - Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
 - Remote candidates: must meet both the 5+ yrs Mechanical Engineering and 5+ yrs project management requirements to be considered
 
Preferred:
- Experience with centrifugal blowers, oil-flooded screw compressors, or industrial mixers
 - Background in gas processing, oil & gas, or chemical facilities
 - Experience in renewable energy, biogas, or waste treatment environments
 - Familiarity with pipeline safety and industrial gases
 - Prior military technical training
 
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the specification, selection, procurement, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
 - Ensure all pressure vessel and piping designs comply with ASME standards
 - Collaborate with Process, Electrical, and Controls Engineers to deliver safe and efficient systems
 - Act as a technical expert for rotating equipment, providing troubleshooting and reliability support
 - Manage project scope, budgets, and timelines from concept through completion
 - Support site operations involving gas processing and chemical systems (OSHA training provided)
 - Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and customers, supporting contract and commercial alignment
