Sr Project Mechanical Engineer - Biopharma Manufacturing
SRG, the leader in the Life Sciences human capital industry, is looking for a Sr Project Mechanical Engineerto join our client's Biopharma manufacturing team onsite in Luling, LA. This role is responsible for managing performing all aspects for a complete design of complex mechanical engineering assignments. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in mechanical engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis.
*W2 contract only; rate negotiable
MUST HAVES:
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required
- ABET certified institution
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration is a plus
- 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering
- Strong project management and multitasking skills
- Solid verbal and written communication and computer skills, Microsoft Suite
- Proven leadership abilities and abilities to influence in a non-traditional business environment
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development of preliminary project description, schedule and cost estimates upon project assignment
- Accomplishing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, equipment and material procurement specifications, calculations and piping estimates.
- Developing conceptional layouts / cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving the engineering task at hand; including not to proceed with the work if not feasible / cost attractive.
- Producing estimate level preliminary designs / material take-offs for the level of estimate being performed on a project
- Development of formal project scopes and capital request documentation
- Producing detailed design calculations and sketches for material of constructions associated with the project.
- Reviewing and checking vendor / other discipline drawings for mechanical input
- Checking calculations and equipment specifications by others to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, industry standards, design criteria, site/ global Bayer standards and conformance to good engineering practice
- In-depth knowledge of design standards and codes as applicable to rotating and static piping systems and equipment
- Knowledge of good design practices for piping systems, sizing of compressible fluid piping, flexibility and stress analysis of piping systems, application and knowledge of piping supports
- Identification of need for safety devices (PSVs, PSE, CVs) and phase separation equipment (steam traps, liquid strainers)
