Our Client, one of Cambridge’s most innovative, publicly traded biotech companies, focused on translating the science of siRNA into human therapies, is looking for a full time Buyer who can ensure accurate processing of requisitions and placement of orders across multiple sites (including GMP facility) in a centralized Procurement environment with an emphasis on service to the end-user. The position interacts with multi-level internal and external contacts, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills, while independently managing workload to a number of deadlines throughout each day. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, highly motivated professional with prior procurement experience in biotech, excellent communication, organizational and computer skills.

Summary Of Key Responsibilities:

  • Support ongoing projects within Procurement, and more specifically, the Research & Development and Technology category
  • Provide customer service and support to internal departments and vendors with respect to various procurement processes and inquiries
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
  • Support category teams in supplier selection projects and category data analytics
  • Research alternate suppliers and negotiate pricing based on forecasting obtained from end users
  • Review contracts and quotations (in conjunction w/ Legal) to ensure compliance with internal policies and strategy
  • Maintain financial information, files and records (e.g. purchase orders, quotations, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring good documentation practices
  • Skills:
  • 1 year of procurement experience required (biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred; knowledge of cGMP a plus)
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel; experience with SAP preferred
  • Experience with eSourcing systems is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Understanding and compliance with applicable Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Ability to work sensitively with confidential material
