HEAD OF R&DMy client is an innovative, dynamic and rapidly growing Biotechnology company based in Wales offering a cutting edge technology driven drug discovery platform. My client is looking for an experienced bioinformatician to support them in their research and development plan.THE ROLEThis is a business critical role and a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Scientist to come in and support the execution of the business strategy.As the Head of R&D you will have the responsibility of deploying a £1.1M budget to map out antigens and antibodies through planning and experiments. The head of R&D will be responsible for running phage display experiments and parallelise them for automation. In this role, on a daily basis, you will be working closely with machine learning engineers and bioinformaticians. PERSON SPECIFICATION:* You will have the opportunity to build the largest antigen-antibody database* You will be responsible for identifying and the selection of targets* You will have the chance to run and be responsible for phage display experiments* Quality assurance* Procurement of consumables* You will be responsible designing protocols optimise for data generation* Using a LIMS system to manage protocols * Making automation-ready protocols* Reporting resultsREQUIREMENTS:* You will be a PhD or postdoc in relevant field * You will need to be experienced in setting up and running a lab* Experienced in phage display and antibodies * Experienced in NGS, PacBio* Excellent molecular biology skills (cloning , PCR, sequence analysis)* Expert in high-throughput methods* Ability to work as a team * Must be self-motivated and able to share learning and expertise.* Respect for others* Ability to work and communicate well with others is essentialDESIRABLE:* Experience in building affinity maturation libraries* Experience in an industrial settingIf you or anybody in your network is interested in this role then please get in touch on 0121 726 9711 or Marcus.jolly@srgtalent.com
