The position of Senior Analyst is within our clients laboratory in Oxfordshire. In this role, you will work as part of a team to undertake specialised analysis of samples using Solid Phase Extraction, as well as analysis using LC-MS/MS and GC-MS techniques. In addition, you will ensure that all results are reported via the LIMS system to agreed timescales. You will also be expected to undertake additional responsibilities as required.


  • To undertake sample extractions, process data, undertake second review of data and authorise test results
  • To undertake routine instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
  • To collaborate in the development and evaluation of new equipment / protocols / testing procedures, including revision of standard operating procedures
  • To ensure that all internal QA/QC programmes are implemented and to review trends / monitor performance
  • To ensure that appropriate levels of stocks are kept maintained, placing orders as required to facilitate effective and efficient use of these consumables
  • To participate in the evaluation and implementation of new methodologies / reagents and to keep abreast of any developments pertaining to the laboratory
  • To train, supervise and mentor Analysts, Trainee Analysts and new starters, including signing off competencies, and providing presentations and tutorials


  • Must have an appropriate science degree or comparable experience
  • Strong laboratory experience in a high through put environment
  • Experience in using SPE, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS or equivalent
  • Experience in working in an analytical toxicology environment is highly desirable.
