Senior Mechanical Engineer - Medical Devices - Cambridge

SRG are currently in partnership with a leading manufacturer of Biotechnology equipment with a wide range of applications including healthcare. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to fulfil a role within their company on a full-time and permanent basis.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Helping to define product requirements at the early stages, through close contact and collaboration with our customers and our commercial teams.
  • Managing complex multi-disciplinary projects, specifically:
  • Completing early prototyping and rig work necessary for de-risking the technology in the early stages
  • Developing working prototypes for placements with customers
  • Gathering feedback from a broad range of users for iterate improvement of designs; customers, manufacturing engineers, production assembly, service & support, field applications and commercial
  • Developing and running test programmes to establish and prove key product performance levels

About you:

The essentials:

  • A 1st or 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering from a leading university, with a thorough understanding of materials, mathematics, mechanics, structures and fluid mechanics
  • At least 8 years' experience in a product development environment
  • A passion and talent for engineering and strong, demonstrable technical problem-solving skills
  • A good understanding of the product development cycle and experience of leading multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Experience of using SolidWorks CAD - 5 years minimum
  • Deep technical expertise, together with hands-on experience in the development of complex technical solutions for new products and processes.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • The experience and desire to mentor young engineers at the beginning of their career. To share your knowledge and expertise with them and to help support them in achieving their personal development goals
  • Experience of reporting to higher levels of management and being active in the driving of the business' wider strategic goals
  • A keen interest in developing customer relationships, gaining sector-specific experience and promoting the business
