Job Title: Toxicology Technical Specialist

Location: Warrington

SRG are working with a well-established, award-winning company, delivering drugs, alcohol and DNA testing services to the legal community, members of the public and companies across the UK. The post holder will work with the Toxicology team to manage projects to continuously improve current methods and design and validate new methods, working with techniques of immunoassay, LLE, SLE and LC-MS-MS.

Role responsibilities include:

* Feeding into the Head of R&D to provide high quality technical, scientific, and regulatory advice, including formulation of new methodologies within the Toxicology team.

* Planning and executing toxicology project work, leading on method validations and verifications as requested.

* Developing, implementing, and actively monitoring a comprehensive, effective laboratory quality programme. Ensuring timely and efficient delivery of quality laboratory results.

* Authoring procedures required for newly validated methodologies.

* Project managing and delivering finished documents to support UKAS ETS requirements and ensure lean implementation of new methods into team workflow models.

* Training and development of junior members of the toxicology team.

* Building and developing successful stakeholder relationships and attending conferences to horizon scan for future scientific growth opportunities.

* Ensure compliance with GDPR, ISO17025, Lab 51 and ISO9001 in addition to all departmental procedures, policies, and protocols.

* Ensuring all laboratory equipment calibration checks are performed on a daily and monthly basis where necessary following appropriate procedures. Ensuring that each item of equipment is used according to the appropriate Procedures(s).

* Maintaining all relevant technical processes and methodologies and ensuring they are validated to a UKAS ISO 17025 standard and meet with customer requirements/expectations.

* Responsible for tracking and monitoring of all rework rates and identification or improvements to reduce these, reporting the KPIs to the Head of Toxicology on a monthly basis.

* Embeds a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture and drives implementation of changes.

* Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the Head of Toxicology's request.

Person Specification:

* Degree in a relevant scientific discipline.

* LC-MS-MS experience is essential.

* Project management experience.

* Experience of method development from idea conception; to a fully accredited laboratory process.

* Experience working in a laboratory based ISO17025 environment.

* Experience of Toxicology instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

* QTOF experience is desirable.Interested? Or know someone who will be?
