SRG are currently working with a new, exciting biotechnology company to support their search for a skilled Applications Scientist. They have developed a cell manipulation platform which allows them to drastically change drug discovery workflows in the pharmaceutical industry.

As part of their mission, they are looking to appoint an experienced Applications Scientist to deliver collaborative projects with external partners, develop the platform against various assays in the field of cell biology, and provide on-site customer support.

Key responsibilities of an Applications Scientist include:

Instrument and assay testing Testing the instrumentation in breadboard and prototype form Perform technical troubleshooting, system optimisation and maintenance In conjunction with the Biology team, design and conduct experiments on the droplet manipulation system Develop assays on the platform and analyse results, feeding back to the Biology Team Deliver high quality data for external project work and report to collaborators Devise verification and validation tests and performance improvements to the systemCollaboration and planning Liaise with external collaborators and customers Liaise with the Software development team Work closely with the Biology team to deliver project milestones Participate in team technical discussions and problem-solving exercises Contribute to technical meetings Contribute to work plans and pilot trial designsAs an Applications Scientist you should have:

 A first-class or 2:1 degree in Bioengineering, Biophysics, Physics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience A technical, hands-on track record in one of the above disciplines, with experience in more than one of the following areas: Optics Microfluidics Assay development Demonstrable experience with interdisciplinary and cross-functional working Exceptional problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills Excellent teamworking skillsIt would be advantageous for you to have: Experience with microscopy and optical imaging systems Background knowledge in biophysics, biochemistry or biology Experience interacting with collaborators from other disciplines A track record of working in a multidisciplinary environment Experience in instrument support or assay development
