My client is looking to recrut for an Occupational Health Technician to work on a Permament basis at their facility in Northumberland.


To assist in the timely delivery of a comprehensive occupational health service in line with statutory, mandatory and Company policy.


  • Provide information, mostly in electronic format, to aid assessment of care provided, management of absence, legal compliance etc.
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager and HS&E Coordinator identify health promotion needs and devise and implement a programme to meet the needs identified (including wellbeing medical programmes).
  • To carry out audiometry, spirometry, vision screening and other health surveillance and biological monitoring as required.
  • To carry out pre-employment medicals and drug and alcohol testing
  • Assist with accident treatment and investigation should the need arise.
  • To conduct DSE, COSHH, manual handling and other workplace assessments as instructed
  • To provide clinical / administrative assistance for other members of the Occupational Health and HR team as requested
  • To assist the HR Manager and Health, Safety and Environmental Co-ordinator as required, e.g. H&S promotion, management of PPE etc.
  • To work with HR to proactively manage sickness absence, working with managers to arrange phased returns and light duties where appropriate.
  • To organise and conduct return to work assessments as outlined in the company procedure.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, health records and other records as required.
  • Following appropriate training, operate, maintain and calibrate all equipment in accordance with policy procedure.
  • Maintain first aid and equipment stock levels in the Medical Centre and First Aid Room.
  • Provide and deliver specific information in accordance with protocols as directed by occupational health physician
  • Providing data for statistics, e.g. information for quarterly H&S Steering Group meeting
  • To conduct health and safety audits
  • To administer annual flu vaccinations
  • Communicate with clients over the telephone: i) answer queries (ii) provide initial advice following protocol iii) provide test results iv) receive information.
  • Undertake employment medicals, e.g. driver, new starter and BA User.
  • To deliver interactive monthly health and wellbeing campaigns


  • HNC/Degree in a health or science related discipline desirable. Candidates with healthcare experience or qualifications will be considered
  • Science GCSE / A- Levels essential.
  • Previous experience in a health care setting and in occupational health desirable.
  • Demonstrate a theoretical and practical knowledge of equipment and main tasks required for the role.
