Research Associate: Gene Editing Cambridge Permanent£ Competitive depending on skills, experience and background

An entrepreneurial gene synthesis organisation are seeking a Research Associate to support the development of vectors for DNA delivery as well as exploring gene editing strategies for therapeutic indications.

Core role requirements:

  • Work independently to develop and optimise gene editing strategies for in-house projects
  • Confidently plan, execute, and deliver projects to a high standard and in accordance with project plans
  • Analyse and interpret experimental data; identify and solve experimental problems
  • Drive the evaluation and optimisation of novel gene editing methodologies
  • Deliver gene editing platforms in vitro using non-viral delivery vectors
  • Work collaboratively and support the R&D functions of the Company
  • Undertake any other appropriate roles and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the role holder's skills and experience as requested
  • Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

Person specification:

  • PhD or demonstrable equivalent experience in biological sciences, with significant experience in gene editing
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in construct design for genome engineering with CRISPR
  • Application of editing strategies in mammalian cell culture, preferably primary cells
  • Extensive practical experience and a good understanding of molecular biology techniques including DNA cloning, DNA, RNA and protein extraction, electrophoresis, qPCR, Western blotting
  • Experience with viral or non-viral delivery vectors, or electroporation
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot new assays and techniques
  • Excellent team working and communication skills
