We are delighted to be supporting one of our early stage clinical research clients with their search for an experienced Project Manager. Reporting into the Chief Operations Officer, you will be responsible for managing and planning a number of high profile early stage discovery programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and develop robust project plans to support team activities from early discovery through lead selection and candidate nomination.
  • Manage and coordinate early stage R&D programmes to ensure deadlines are met, quality is maintained and projects are delivered within budget.
  • Work closely with internal and external contacts to map and manage project contracts.
  • Closely monitor and provide updates on programme milestones. Communicate regularly with in-house technical experts across clinical research, translational biology, bioanalytics, CMC and Quality.
  • Play a key role within the company project team, providing regular project updates and required reports/documentation.
  • Work closely with the finance team to create project budget plans and monitor regularly to ensure programmes remain within financial plan.
  • Manage the preparation and review of key programme documents.
  • Communicate progress and ensure that deviations from plans and any perceived risks are promptly reported.
  • Collate and present research project updates for monthly reports.

Ideal candidates will hold a degree or higher in a relevant Life Sciences subject with a proven background in managing R&D programmes, to support early discovery science. Candidates must have proven experience of coordinating, planning and managing high profile Life Science projects to ensure milestones are met. In addition to your technical background, ideally candidates will hold a formal project management qualification and have a detailed working knowledge of using MS Project, ThinkCell and Excel software. Experience of managing projects and research programmes within a small or medium sized biotechnology business is preferred and ideally candidates will have previous experience in an operational development team.

Proven knowledge of early development phase activities for biological products is critical and candidates must have the ability to build effective internal and external relationships to drive programmes forward. Experience of negotiating and managing scientific contracts is also required.
