Role context:

These positions have come about due to a recent funding award for this exciting Cambridge-based Biotech start-up.

You will be working as an integral member of the Biology team and play an important part in the integration of key biological components in their product portfolio within Gene Synthesis. The organisation works in multidisciplinary project teams and your skills and expertise will complement those of the other key areas such as physics, chemistry, engineering and software development.

Requirements for the fulfilment of the role:

  • Educated to BSc/MSc/PhD (depending on level of role) within disciplines such as: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biosciences - or related

  • Proven background of developing bioassays in microfluidics environments

  • Good working knowledge of the following classic Molecular techniques: PCR/q-PCR, DNA amplification, hybridisation, purification, quantification - this will be from within industry

  • Exemplary record keeping, communication and collaborative skills - comfortable contributing to a team as well as working independently
  • Highly analytical by nature, with the interrogation and research skills to back this up

Person Specifications:

  • Background in DNA synthesis, gene assembly, and error correction methodology

  • Good working knowledge of NGS technology and familiarity with DNA detection and quantification

  • It's desirable that you will have worked with surface biosensors or DNA arrays

  • Experience working with, or appreciation of Python programming

  • Development of bioassays in electrophoretic environments
