Role / Description

The role consists of recording and documenting any obtained results after testing foodstuffs. We are also looking for an individual who has the ability to apply scientific techniques and principles in the laboratory environment, and who has an understanding of good laboratory practice and health and safety. We are also looking for an individual who able to learn and perform new techniques after being trained, which include but is not limited to; sample preparation, detection of foodborne pathogens and spoilage organisms, sample receipt, sample analysis, plate counting and results calculation. You will also be expected to perform calibration techniques on laboratory equipment.

Requirements

* Keen interest in scientific subjects (microbiology experience is desirable)

* Ability to work within the requirements of recognised quality systems e.g. UKAS. ISO9000

* Ability to learn techniques for working with spoilage organisms and food borne pathogens.

* Ability to learn techniques for calculating required dilutions of cultures to achieve a target level when inoculating packs of food products
