Working for an innovative and expanding organisation, your key focus will be the smooth running of the R&D laboratory as well as the development and progression of your team. You will report to the R&D Technical Manager and have leadership responsibility for projects, development of new assay formats and quality control matters within your team.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

* Oversee and lead project activities to develop new assay formats including immuno- and electro-chemical assays, liquid controls and on-board control systems

* Focus on the necessary performance, stability and cost associations of appropriate experiments for development of assays

* Design and analyse experiments, using statistical methods, interpret and interrogate resulting data to define next steps

* Using a solutions-focused approach throughout your assay research and development to ascertain best practice, develop innovative and elegant assays and support the team

* Communicate project updates to the team and wider organisation

* It will be your responsibility to ensure adherence to all design control procedures, regulatory protocols and customer requirements

* Creation and maintenance of quality records to ensure improvement of assay methodologies, accurate documentation of experiments and storage of relevant information pertinent to the stage of R&D

* Continuous monitor and review of quality policy, ensure that all lab equipment is maintained and fit for purpose and that best practice is observed in all phases of the assay research and development team and processPerson specification:

* BSc or higher (or equivalent) in a Biological/Life Science discipline

* Proven people-management experience preferably from commercial industry

* Demonstrable understanding of assay-performance drivers (sensitivity, range, reproducibility and precision)

* Proven background in working with immunoassay (including fluorescent detection), along with electro-chemical technologies and their application to IVD's

* Good working knowledge of statistical packages, DoE approach and adept at working to GLP/GDP protocols and guidelines

* It would be helpful, though not essential to have had experience with:

* Working in the IVD industry, with innovative devices in design/production

* Understanding of working with reagents/conjugation chemistry and lyophilisation for POC devices

* Particle-based immunoassays

* CE marking IVD products, 510K submission and approval

* Have worked to GMP/GLP/GDP standards or in a biohazard settingDoes this accurately describe you and your next role?
