Do you have a passion for working with plants with hands-on experience of plant propagation?

SRG is working with a global leading agrochemical company based close to Reading. They are currently seeking a Glasshouse Technician to support crop production for their Double Haploid breeding programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out a range of glasshouse activities including sowing seeds, transplanting plantlets, tissue-sampling harvesting and threshing.
  • Support seed processing activities such as seed cleaning, seed counting (automated) and seed labelling.
  • Maintaining bays within the glasshouse - watering plants, recognising when plants aren't growing as expected.

Requirements:

  • Robust, of good health, and enjoys hands-on work (may include some heavy lifting).
  • Hands on experience working with plants - in a plant nursery or glasshouse - understanding plant maintenance and cultivation or landscape gardening. Experience in a manual role such as construction will be considered.
  • A BSc, BTEC or Diploma in Plant Science, Horticulture or a similar agricultural subject would be advantageous.
