Job Title - Mechanical / Maintenance Engineer
Location - Barrow-In-Furness
Job Type - Contract (3 months initially with strong likelihood of extension)
Role Overview:
Take on a leadership role overseeing all mechanical resources, driving operational excellence, and ensuring process reliability through strategic planning, technical guidance, and effective team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for all mechanical functions, ensuring alignment with operational and reliability goals.
- Own and lead all mechanical initiatives, projects, and process improvements within the department.
- Inspire, guide, and manage team performance by setting clear objectives, delivering regular feedback, and driving continuous performance improvement.
- Facilitate the training, development, and upskilling of team members through hands-on coaching and structured technical and general training programs.
- Lead the execution and management of reliability and maintenance projects to enhance asset performance.
- Oversee contractor management and ensure adherence to all departmental control procedures and standards.
- Maintain a strong understanding of environmental, legal, and Client's statutory requirements, ensuring full compliance across all operations.
- Guarantee all mechanical assets are maintained in a safe and operational condition, promoting a culture of safety and compliance across the plant.
- Support the creation and implementation of effective safety programs, ensuring adherence to organisational and legal safety regulations.
- Consistently comply with regulatory standards and internal control frameworks, driving accountability across all asset management activities.
- Optimise manufacturing processes through the design and enhancement of mechanical systems in line with Client's Reliability Pillars.
- Collaborate with Shift and Maintenance Leaders to identify development needs, address process inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide updates and insights on uptime initiatives, while identifying and resolving asset-related issues to improve overall output.
- Manage inspections and part replacements as per Planned Maintenance schedules, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Deliver accurate technical information to support maintenance planning, both for scheduled and reactive maintenance activities.
- Prioritise maintenance efforts by guiding the team on shutdowns, continuous improvements, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure robust Preventative Maintenance systems are in place and effectively managed.
- Plan, organise, and oversee all asset reliability activities to support long-term operational success.
