Scientific Lead - contract

6 Months extendable contract - Ireland or UK based. Hybrid or fully remote within these locations / countries only!

Rate: €600-650 per day for Ireland based

£500-525 per day if UK based

Multinational Pharmaceutical Organisation.

The Scientific Lead is responsible for delivering and supporting scientific excellence of medical communications writing content for assigned franchises (Therapeutic Areas) and the scope is worldwide.

Role details:

Working in partnership with a number of teams including Client Engagement team, Medical Communications and Writing Delivery team for a designated client group / therapeutic area (TA) / brand across the globe, this role will be responsible for delivering and supporting scientific excellence of Medical Communications services across their accounts, ensuring:

* Medical communications deliverables are aligned with scientific goals & objectives
* Written materials contain appropriate scientific statements & support learning objectives
* Development of original content, leading faculty and client communications relating to scientific content of medical communications deliverables
* Quality, scientific accuracy and integrity of assigned projects
* Assisting the client to achieve medical communication objectives through creation and execution of scientific and educational materials
* Training and mentoring of the Writing delivery teams on selected therapy areas

You will also be responsible for:

  • Overseeing Global Business Solutions medical communication content development for high-profile and scientifically complex therapeutic areas
  • Supporting the planning and execution of scientific communications for assigned Therapeutic Areas
  • Overseeing the delivery of client-requested support of medical/scientific communications plans and medical communications workshops for assigned brands & Therapeutic areas
  • Leading the review of the medical/scientific communication plans with the key stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are met
  • Recommend and implement strategy-aligned and innovative medical communications solutions to meet client needs
  • Responsible for the quality and scientific accuracy/integrity of projects


    Expertise Required:
  • Essential to be a Qualified Medical Degree or higher qualification holder. Preference for an advanced degree in a healthcare related field (eg. PhD, PharmD, MD in life
    science/healthcare)
  • Commercial experience essential: 5+ years' experience of working with international Medical Communications for either an agency or internal within the pharmaceuticals industry
  • Experience in a wide array of Medical Communications activities including medical scientific publications, slide decks, symposia, standalones, advisory board meetings, etc.
  • Track record in developing Medical Communications plans
  • Track record of working effectively in a matrixed organization & complex structures
  • Experience in a multi-cultural work environment & international working
    Strong negotiations & stakeholder management skills + Leadership Skills
  • Ability to scope and lead content projects, manage internal and external resources and direct content projects through to completion
  • Desired experience in digital solutions and innovation
  • Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and applies extensive knowledge on the product and therapeutic category
