SRG is working with a successful oil refinery company in Stoke-on-Trent who are looking for a Lab Technician to join initially on temporary a 3-month contract. You would be joining a fast-paced environment where your analytical skills and attention to detail will be crucial. The successful candidate will be joining a small laboratory team, supporting in the testing a range of samples including incoming material and finishes samples. This role would be a great for recent chemistry graduates looking to get some experience in industry.
Working Hours: Starting on day shifts, before moving on to a rotating shift pattern including 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am.
Role / Description

• Sampling and testing of all incoming and outgoing materials
• Day-to-day analysis of production samples
• Analysis of waste oils using GC, FTIR, XRF, PMCC Flash point, Viscosity, Karl Fischer, colour index
• Sampling and analysis of production samples
• Routine lab work and Quality Control (QC) testing
• Keeping up to date data files - recording results and sharing findings

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry (or similar) or proven industrial experience in a similar laboratory environment
  • Recent Chemistry graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply)
• Proven experience of analytical techniques including GC, FTIR, XRF, Viscosity testing is desirable but not essential
• Available with short or immediate notice is advantageous
• Willing and able to work at height
