Tánaiste opens new science talent office in Cork

Cork, Ireland - 29 January 2019

This office has now closed as of 18.11.2022.

Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD, yesterday cut the ribbon to the new Cork office of SRG, the leading international science, clinical and engineering recruitment firm to the life sciences, Engineering and science related industries.

Based in Cork city, the new office will provide companies across Ireland with access to the very best of local and international science, engineering and clinical professionals to enable them to achieve their goals. The venture marks the latest move by SRG’s parent company, Impellam Group, to invest in Ireland and support its clientele in a changing world where access to great talent can be a game changer.

SRG have appointed Paul O’Brien as Associate Director to lead SRG in Ireland from the Cork office.  O’Brien is a Cork local with almost 20 years industry experience, the last decade of which spent in the Life Sciences sector within the Irish market. O’Brien brings with him experience of attaining the position and performance as a no.1 supplier of staffing solutions to companies’ across Ireland.  He will use this extensive experience to ensure SRG provide customers and candidates the very best access to talent and opportunities respectively.

O’Brien says: “SRG are one of the longest-standing scientific recruitment businesses in Europe. I’m excited to playing my part in SRG’s mission to support our customers in providing new and extremely creative solutions to customers’ business-critical talent challenges.

“SRG establishing a presence in Ireland is an extension of this philosophy of tuning to specific requirements. Our customers want unfettered access to the very best talent in science and engineering, wherever in the world they are. And our candidates want help in building international careers. With SRG’s global reach, we plan to give them exactly that.”

Coveney adds: “This is an exciting development. Cork is unique in terms of balancing significant urban growth with a quality of life.  The highly talented workforce and low cost of doing business is a proven attraction but it is the quality of how we live that secures retention.  SRG selecting Cork as a location again just emphasizes that Cork is vital to government strategy to help realize the ambitious growth targets within the National Planning Framework, Ireland 2040.”

In support of the launch, SRG is running a free seminar at the Montenotte Hotel in Cork on 26 February. Entitled The Generation Game and led by Russell Beck, Impellam's Head of Consulting, the session will use the latest research to help attendees better understand how to balance the varying needs and skills of the four generations coexisting in today’s workforce.
